Beating Adwords- A Review
As an affiliate, Beating Adwords was exactly the ebook I was looking for but is it really worth $67...
In the beginning...
If you don't know what Google Adwords is all about, I suggest you read my article on pay-per-click search engines.)
The ebook starts slowly covering the basics of Adwords, but gradually the tips get better and better and better. It is very much aimed at affiliates, so merchants or people just trying to use Adwords to promote their site should really investigate Perry marshall's ebook: The Definitive Guide to Google Adwords.
The ebook talks about the importance of creating landing pages, and even provides you with example templates.
Also, as you'd expect to find in a 'make money' guide, it talks about the attitude you need to succeed. I think tips on attitude are always worth mentioning, because it really is so important.
You can tell that the authors (Kyle and Carson of Wealthy Affiliates) know their stuff, and have tried and tested everything they've written about.
What's bad about Beating Adwords?
- It's a short ebook.
'No fluff' is the usual expression, but this can sometimes mean 'no content'. So Beating Adwords is nowhere near as comprehensive as Perry Marshall's Adwords ebook. But then Perry's ebook deals with Adwords from a merchant rather than an affiliate's perspective (I think. I still have not read the latest version).
- Sometimes
the author repeats the same point, in different sections of the book.
- The ebook is not great at showing you what ads work better than others,
or how you go about writing good ads. It emphasises the importance of testing,
testing, testing everything you do, though. And how to split-test your Google
Adwords ads. is covered, for example
- For $67 - recently reduced from $97 - I'd expect the ebook to be written better. However, you do get unlimited updates to the ebook, and if you know anything about Google Adwords you know that the internet's #1 pay-per-click search engine changes the rules all the time.
But I did not waste my money, as I learnt enough from reading Beating Adwords to help me succeed as an Adwords affiliate.
What's good about Beating Adwords?
- It's aim is to show you how the authors succeed as affiliates
using Google Adwords. It achieves this goal, giving sensible tips that should
not go out of date in a hurry. And even if they do, "think differently"
is constantly drummed into the reader.
- I learned several excellent
tips that I probably wouldn't have discovered from not reading the ebook. For
example...
- It shows how to design landing pages that work. (No
mention was made, though, of the fact that some affiliates have been penalised
quite badly recently in terms of having bid prices increased by 1000%. This, despite
having high CTR and a relevant landing page.)
- It would be unfair
to say what they are here, but what I learned - the tips and strategies to put
in place - are the reason why I won't be asking for a refund.
- Good
discussion on the importance of Adwords 'quality score'
- Talks
about the Content Network and when to use it and when not to use it.
- Also discusses other low-cost advertising techniques, which is always useful to know.
Who is Beating Adwords suitable for?
Anyone wanting to improve their understanding of how Google Adwords can best be used, particularly Google affiliates promoting Clickbank (or other vendor) products.
So, the bottom line on Beating Adwords...
In short, this ebook was exactly what I was looking for and I'm glad I bought it. I don't think it's worth $97 though (and it's just about worth the new price of $67). I will probably earn that money back from what I have learned.
So... yes, I recommend Beating Adwords .
I'll give it 8/10 for affiliates who know a little bit about Google Adwords but want to really know how to be different, and how to succeed.
